Jerry Lee Lewis - Greatest Live Performances of the '50s, '60s and '70s
The ultimate video collection by the ultimate rock 'n' roll star!
On July 28, 1957, Jerry Lee Lewis made his first-ever television appearance on The Steve Allen Show, and rock 'n' roll was never the same. Suddenly there was a new standard for excitement, artistry and raw explosive talent! This collection includes that epochal moment together with Jerry Lee's '50s appearances on Dewey Phillips' Pop Shop and The Dick Clark Show. He performs all his great '50s hits: Whole Lot Of Shakin' Going On, Great Balls Of Fire and Breathless, as well as You Win Again.
From the early '60s there's a legendarily rare appearance from England. Jerry Lee sings his biggest hits as well as I'm On Fire and Your Cheatin' Heart before a fanatical audience.
By the '70s Jerry Lee was a country star, and he made several appearances on Ralph Emery's Pop Goes The Country. He sings the deeply moving Who's Gonna Play This Old Piano? plus a rocking version of Me and Bobby McGee. Later, Jerry Lee and his cousin, Mickey Gilley, reunite at the piano for the first time in decades to sing the songs they learned growing up, including Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee. They close with a storming version of Lewis Boogie.
Additionally, there's a preview of Jerry Lee's 1958 movie, High School Confidential, and an extended interview from 1993 in which Jerry Lee talks informally about hanging out with Elvis and about the music he created. Rock 'n' Roll!
