NOTES:
Not long after successfully establishing herself in her hometown music scene, Baton Rouge, Louisiana native Kristin Diable dropped her life in the swamps to test out fresher waters in New York City. After selling most of her possessions to put down deposit on a 150 square foot rooming house apartment in Manhattan's East Village, she began making the rounds in the bustling Lower East Side music scene.
After a chance introduction, George Stein (best known for guiding the career of musician Jeff Buckley) signed on to represent and later manage the developing artist, currently as a co-manager.
As she steadily began building a buzz, working her way up to more prestigious downtown haunts such as The Living Room, The Knitting Factory, and Mercury Lounge, she produced and self-release the full length "Shelter" record. The record provides a glimpse into the diversity and depth of this 23 year old songwriter, who cites influences as broad as Neil Young to Nina Simone, and Ray Charles to Lucinda Williams.
Judging by her regular standing room only shows at NYC's The Living Room, Diable's knack for poignant songwriting is one of her strongest talents, even when accompanied by only her guitar. Stein picked up on these developing talents early on and adds "very rarely do you meet someone so young with so much musical integrity. She has a voice that flows like a slow Southern river, with molasses and whiskey in the current."
Diable has returned to her native Louisiana, settling in New Orleans where she is rapidly building a name for herself in the burgeoning Crescent City singer/songwriter scene. She has toured extensively throughout the US performing at music venues, colleges & universities (from UPenn's infamous Spring Fling event to acoustic coffee-house series and Carnegie Hall). She has also showcased at South by Southwest, CMJ Music Conference, NACA (Central), NACA (Northeast), NACA (MidAtlantic) & Dewey Beach Music Festival. She has shared the stage with John Mayer, KT Tunstall, Amos Lee, Norah Jones and Shawn Colvin, to name a few.
