Little Freddie King - Chasing Tha Blues - Chasing tha Blues takes you on a rough ride through Freddie's life. The vocals are made of grit and tears, and the guitar licks can't be written down. The power is in the spaces between the notes.
Paul Sanchez and The Rolling Roadshow - Reclamation Of The Pie-Eyed Piper - Needing no introduction to the THR and New Orleans faithful, native New Orleanian Paul Sanchez has been a prominent artist on the label since it’s inception. His latest endeavor will be the 6th CD project – either solo or in collaboration with others – for THR. His latest offering will be called Reclamation of the Pie-Eyed Piper and will be a mix of new songs, cover songs and older songs, one of which will be a duet with Michael Cerveris. This will be Paul being Paul with acoustic solo and full band tracks.
The Band CourtBouillon Feat. Wayne Toups - Steve Riley - Wilson Savoy - Three of the most prominent and entertaining personalities (not to mention incredibly talented accordionists) come together for this good-time album. The Band Courtbouillon is just a few larger than life Cajun musicians sitting down to play the music they love the music they were brought up on. “It’s all about the music!”
Creole String Band - Shrimp Boots & Vintage Suits - Creole String Beans is your favorite New Orleans party band disguised as a retro-roots, media-savvy, beer-drinking, post-modern, vintage-suit-wearing urban hunting club.
Creole String Beans embark on a new mission with their Threadhead Records recording: adding genre-appropriate ORIGINAL songs to their already successful Louisiana repertoire. Hard rocking funk grooves about out of control spillway parties, soulful blues of jilted lovers and female convicts, and tongue-in-cheek swing tunes about shopping mall paranoia and thrift store comfort blend seamlessly with swamp rock obscurities from deeper in the crypt than any band has gone before. And their new originals are right at home along side the time-tested classics.
Gina Forsyth - Promised Land - Gina Forsyth is a singer/songwriter, violinist, and guitarist from New Orleans. She is known her wizardry on fiddle and guitar, an alto as unique as it is soulful, and for songs with economically written lines that cut straight to the heart—profound, unpretentious, and well-crafted.
Irma Thomas - Soul Queen Of New Orleans - 2 CD SET - For the past 50 years Irma Thomas has been the undisputed Soul Queen Of New Orleans, recording for labels such as Chess, Imperial and Island, scoring pop and R&B hits and releasing Grammy nominated albums. Despite this illustrious career many soul fans regard her earliest recordings as her finest. Disc 1 of this 2CD set features the all the singles she recorded for Minit, Ron and Bandy along with b-sides and demos. The demos have been specially enhanced for this release to remove the audible tape noises which versions blighted previously available.
The second disc features a 1976 live performance recorded at The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, originally released that year on Island Records. For the show Thomas was reunited with Tommy Ridgley and blasted through many of the New Orleans classics featuered on disc 1 .
Kipori Woods - Blues Gone Wild - A legend in the making, Kipori Woods is one of the youngest black blues vocalist and guitarist to surface on the blues scene in years. "I've always been influenced by the blues," says Kipori, but it wasn't until my grand- father passed in 1996 that I really got serious about playing the blues." Taking his cues from masters like B.B. King, Albert King and New Orleans legend Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Kipori's sound blends blues classics and modern flavors. His fretwork is at turns fierce and playful. His songs range from blues ballads to jumping firestorms of sound.
