Review

This is probably the best two-disc Louis Prima CD compilation, with so many of his hits, and the sound is terrific. For someone new to Louis Prima–this is your entrance to his musical entertainment, and it harkens to another era while remaining cool and contemporary. Talented, unique, and creative vocals and instruments ( I love you Louis, Keely Smith and Sam Butera and the Witnesses–what a band), performing some serious and many humorous takes on music and songs in Louis’s special style. It’s the blues, it’s upbeat, it’s slow and sexy, it’s jazz, it’s fun. Louis Prima does his renditions to classic songs and also several Italian classics–as only he can do. As mentioned, this takes a listener and fan back to the cool cats of music and an entertainer who was different than the rest. Some of us were lucky enough to watch Louis Prima up close and personal in the Sahara Hotel’s Casbah Lounge in Las Vegas in the Sixties and beyond! Great CD.
