Review

I’ve seen these guys live and can testify that they put on one heck of a show, and I defy anyone to sit down and listen to this CD without wanting to get up and DANCE! This is the real stuff, recorded on what must have been a hot Saturday night in a VFW Post and Ladies Auxiliary Hall in Eunice, Louisiana. Steve Riley and The Mamou Playboys play a lot of straight Cajun, a little Zydeco, and they can add a touch of rock and roll energy from time to time. One of the attraction of this hobby is that it is always inspiring to listen to musicians who are really good at what they do, regardless of the musical genre in which they specialize. Even if you are not a fan of Cajun or Zydeco, if you love music, you will admire this recording, and if you have at least half a pulse and one good leg, you’ll be up dancing after a cut or two.
