Notes

Noah Young is a New Orleans-based bassist, composer, and founding member of the acclaimed jazz/funk outfit Naughty Professor. Known for his muscular groove, melodic sensibility, and genre-bending versatility, Young has become one of the most in-demand bassists on the New Orleans music scene.

After moving to the Crescent City to study jazz under a roster of local legends, Young has spent over a decade composing, recording, and touring with an eclectic range of artists, including The Revivalists, Big Freedia, David Shaw, Marcus King, George Porter Jr., Chali 2na, Ivan Neville, Shaun Martin, Isaiah Sharkey, Mike Dillon, Dee-1, and Leroy Jones. His dynamic playing and wide-ranging collaborations earned him nominations for “Best Bassist” from OffBeat Magazine in 2017, 2022, and 2023.

With Naughty Professor, Young has toured internationally, performing in China, Morocco, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, and Canada, along with appearances on Jam Cruise (2018 & 2023) and a regular spot at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Since 2015, Young has also led his own project, the Noah Young Band—a high-energy blend of modern jazz, funk, and fusion that showcases his original compositions. The group has released three albums and performed at notable venues and festivals including FIMU in France, Discover Jazz Festival in Vermont, and Rudy’s Jazz Room in Nashville.

Young’s latest and most ambitious project to date is a brand-new album of original modern jazz/fusion, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer/artist Jamison Ross. Slated for release on September 26, 2025, the album marks a bold evolution in Young’s sound, blending improvisational depth with soulful, groove-driven production.

When not on the road, Young remains an integral part of the New Orleans live music scene, performing regularly with David Shaw, Jelly Joseph, Slugger, and Raw Deal.
