Recorded on September 15, 1957 in Hackensack, New Jersey, Blue Train was the first time John Coltrane selected his own sidemen for a date. He brought together Lee Morgan (trumpet), Curtis Fuller (trombone), Kenny Drew (piano), Paul Chambers (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums). Long regarded as one of Coltrane’s defining statements, the album combines memorable originals like “Blue Train” and “Moment’s Notice” with deeply swinging ensemble work and striking solos. This edition presents the complete album plus one bonus track.
