Notes

RenĂ©e Gros is an emerging singer-songwriter born, raised, and based in New Orleans. She started to make a name for herself in the city’s music scene when legendary drummer, Russell Batiste Jr., handpicked her to be the lead singer of his band.

Gros was bitten by the music bug at an early age. She grew up watching her mother perform, fronting bands that played music made famous by New Orleans R&B legends like Irma Thomas, The Meters, The Neville Brothers, and Dr. John. She spent her college years in Boston, and the two subsequent years traveling the world as a singer on luxury cruise liners. Her journey onboard was long, physically and emotionally, but from the ashes of her adventures at sea rose the songs that were to become her debut EP, “Temporary Love”.

Influenced by the distinctive sounds of her hometown, the EP combines the energy of vintage rhythm and blues with vulnerable storytelling inspired by her own personal experiences. Recorded at Neutral Sound Studio and produced by Andrew Block and Kevin Scott, local favorites including Jon Cleary, Nigel Hall, and Ivan Neville helped bring her original music to life.
